Amanda Block

 Music Teacher

Amanda is grateful to be a part of the Hope family as their music teacher. Having taught preschool through twelfth graders music and choir for 16 years in the public school system, coming to teach in a Christian school environment is an exciting adventure that she is so thankful for. Born in Wisconsin, and having lived briefly in Minnesota, Amanda and her family moved to Arizona in 1989 when she was 10 years old. After attending Mesa public schools (Rhodes JH and Dobson HS), she got her Associate of Arts degree in music from Mesa Community College and her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music Education from Arizona State University.

Amanda has been playing piano since she was 7 and started teaching piano lessons at age 16 and continues to do so. She has also been playing piano, organ, and keyboard and singing on the worship teams at the churches she has attended over the years. She is excited about incorporating her love for God and Christian music into her classroom openly for the first time in her teaching career. Even before starting to teach in the classroom, Amanda wanted to be a stay-at-home mom who homeschools her children, and she has been wonderfully blessed to have a now six year-old daughter, Olivia Joy, to fulfill that dream. Olivia just completed kindergarten at home with Amanda who partnered with her own mom
to teach her. Olivia loves people and animals and music and people and animals!

Amanda enjoys hiking and exploring God's amazing Creation (especially National Parks), spending time with her friends and family, going to concerts, and raising her little girl.
